A Ballpark Figure to Get Started

Since there is no nationwide database that tracks the number of swimming pools built and their cost, an actual national average is nearly impossible to ascertain accurately. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, we used to tell prospective pool buyers that the average cost of a bare-bones in-ground swimming pool was around $35,000. Although we had seen the average price quoted as a bit lower and higher (up to $50,000), after talking with builders in our network and doing our independent research, we thought $35,000 was still a helpful guide for installing a basic in-ground swimming pool.
However, the pandemic has radically shifted the introductory price of in-ground pools nation-wide. The dramatic price increase can be attributed to both labor and supply shortages. If the demand for new pools continues after the pandemic, and these shortages are remedied, we can hope that the law of supply and demand will resume, and the cost of a new pool will come down from these pandemic highs.
